Mission Statement

The purpose of Construction Education Foundation, Inc. is to provide the construction industry the most qualified, technically trained people at all levels. Our target is construction excellence.

Vision Statement

The Construction Education Foundation is a self-supporting foundation with widespread participation, providing the finest in construction industry training.

History of CEF

CEF was created through an alliance of the members of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), North Texas Chapter, and Associated General Contractors (AGC), Dallas Chapter. Associated General Contractors (AGC), Fort Worth Chapter and The American Subcontractors Association (ASA), North Texas Chapter joined the partnership later in 1996. In January 2009, ABC and AGC joined forces and became TEXO Association.

The Participating Associations include DFW Chapter; The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), Dallas and Fort Worth Chapters; Plumbing Heating and Cooling Contractors Association of Texas (PHCC-TX); Texas Air Conditioning Contractors of America (TACCA); National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA); North American Crane Bureau (NACB); and Fire Sprinkler Contractors Association of Texas (FSCATX).

The purpose of CEF is to provide the construction industry with the most qualified technically trained people, from Craft Workers to the Supervisory level. CEF also provides the entire construction community with a funding mechanism to meet the needs of contractors and owners.

The CEF North Texas Training Program began under the auspices of Associated Builders and Contractors and has been in existence since 1981. In 1989 we successfully negotiated with North Lake College for college level accreditation of Craft Education Training Classes and related programs. Obtaining college credit not only enhanced the professional image of the courses, but also provided a professional career path for our craft apprentices and trainees. In 1995, The Associated Builders and Contractors partnered their craft training with other associations and began the transition to a new umbrella organization, the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

In 1996, the NCCER became the official national organization to accredit and standardize craft training for the construction industry.

Also in 1996, an alliance developed to form this foundation, the Construction Education Foundation. It is patterned after the National Center for Construction Education and Research. Today our craft training program has expanded to locations from Fort Worth to East Dallas, and as far east as Tyler, Texas.

CEF Councils and Committees

The following CEF Councils and Committees consist of industry participation from companies that are committed to construction excellence.

The goal of these councils and committees is to consistently monitor the curriculum of each course and maintain the quality of training programs offered by CEF.

Without these dedicated volunteers, CEF could not be what it is today.

CEF Councils and Committees meet once a month. Call the CEF office at 972.574.5200 for the next meeting date and time.

Ways to Give

With your support, the Construction Education Foundation can continue to fulfill its promise to future generations that furthering their education IS possible, regardless of their financial limitations. CEF gives you multiple choices to support our programs and to make a difference in someone's life.

Your contribution may be tax-deductible* and will support student scholarships and other programs that would further CEF’s excellence. For more information on making gifts to any of the CEF Funds, please call the CEF office at 972.574.5200.

Thank you for your support of CEF.

Cash Gifts

Checks should be made payable to CEF, Inc.

Gifts and gift/pledge forms should be mailed to CEF, Inc., PO Box 612107, DFW Airport, TX 75261-2107

Commemorative Gifts

For those who have devoted their professional lives to the construction industry, there is no better way to recognize their service than to make a contribution to CEF’s Scholarship Fund. Upon receipt of a commemorative gift, CEF will:
• send a notification of receipt of a commemorative gift to the loved one’s family, or to the person being honored.
• send a thank you to the donor.

Commemorative gifts over $1,000 will also be acknowledged by a personal note from the current CEF Chairman of the Board.

Endowments

You may choose to name an endowed scholarship after yourself, in honor of a friend or family member, or after a business or organization. CEF staff can provide guidance in determining the scholarship's specific criteria. Endowments can also be set up as memorial funds. A minimum gift of $30,000 is required to establish an endowed scholarship.

In-Kind Gifts

Gifts such as tools, equipment and other non-cash property can be donated for a charitable deduction. However, In-Kind gifts will only be accepted if CEF has a need for the item(s). Need is determined by the governing CEF Trade Council.

Multi-Year Pledges

Annual gift pledges are payable over a two-year period. You can indicate on your pledge form the length of time over which you wish to make your gift, and the Foundation will send you reminders at the intervals you specify -- annually, semi-annually, or quarterly.

Pledges at levels that qualify you for scholarship endowments are payable over three to five years or a lifetime, depending on your level of giving.

CEF Fund Options:

CEF Scholarship Fund:

The Scholarship Fund essentially eliminates financial need as a barrier to education at CEF. The Scholarship will cover a portion of the qualified applicant’s tuition, fees and books for classes taken through CEF. Contributions made to the CEF Scholarship Fund will be overseen by the CEF Board of Directors. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in, or enrolling in, a craft program at CEF.

Trade Council Funds:

The Trade Council Funds will be used by the specified Trade Council as they have a need. Use of the funds will be determined by a vote of the governing Trade Council, for student gifts & supplies for annual student appreciation events. These funds will not be used for scholarships. Should the governing Trade Council cease to exist, any remaining funds in their account would be transferred to the CEF Scholarship Fund.

CEF reserves the right to decline any financial commitment, gift, or bequest, as well as the right to determine how a gift will be credited and/or recognized.

* Prospective donors are strongly encouraged in all cases to consult with their own independent legal and/or tax advisors about proposed gifts. No representative of CEF shall provide legal or tax advice to any donor or prospective donor.
