About CEF

Mission Statement

The purpose of Construction Education Foundation, Inc. is to provide the construction industry the most qualified, technically trained people at all levels. Our target is construction excellence.

Vision Statement

The Construction Education Foundation is a self-supporting foundation with widespread participation, providing the finest in construction industry training.

History of CEF

CEF was created through an alliance of the members of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), North Texas Chapter, and Associated General Contractors (AGC), Dallas Chapter. Associated General Contractors (AGC), Fort Worth Chapter and The American Subcontractors Association (ASA), North Texas Chapter joined the partnership later in 1996.

The Participating Associations include United Masonry Contractors of America (UMCA), and The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), Dallas and Fort Worth Chapters.

The purpose of CEF is to provide the construction industry with the most qualified technically trained people, from Craft Workers to the Supervisory level. CEF also provides the entire construction community with a funding mechanism to meet the needs of contractors and owners.

The CEF North Texas Training Program began under the auspices of Associated Builders and Contractors and has been in existence since 1981. In 1989 we successfully negotiated with North Lake College for college level accreditation of Craft Education Training Classes and related programs. Obtaining college credit not only enhanced the professional image of the courses, but also provided a professional career path for our craft apprentices and trainees. In 1995, The Associated Builders and Contractors partnered their craft training with other associations and began the transition to a new umbrella organization, the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

In 1996, the NCCER became the official national organization to accredit and standardize craft training for the construction industry.

Also in 1996, an alliance developed to form this foundation, the Construction Education Foundation. It is patterned after the National Center for Construction Education and Research. Today our craft training program has expanded to locations from Fort Worth to East Dallas, and as far east as Tyler, Texas.

CEF Councils and Committees

The following CEF Councils and Committees consist of industry participation from companies that are committed to construction excellence.

The goal of these councils and committees is to consistently monitor the curriculum of each course and maintain the quality of training programs offered by CEF.

Without these dedicated volunteers, CEF could not be what it is today.

CEF Councils and Committees meet once a month. Call the CEF office at 972.574.5200 for the next meeting date and time.
